MOUNTAIN BIKING: Lower Eagle River Trail

← AK GLACIAL LAKE 25 MILES NORTH OF NUGGET CREEK AUKE BAY AK Single Tracks →

Description

Lower* Eagle River trail parallels Eagle River, and provides a good variety of terrain, including some hills, mud, and even a river crossing of the South Fork. The majority of the trail consists of double wide (truck trail?) and fairly smooth terrain. Some singletrack spurs exist at various locations.
The trail appears to continue eastward from the Lollipop configuration described, as well as Southerly up the mountain, so alternative routes are very possible.
Please note that the trail passes through private property. This section is well marked with an easement. Please remain on the easement to ensure continued access to this beautiful area.
Be sure to check out the spur at the confluence of the North and South forks of the river. This area opens into a gravel bar with beautiful views of the mountain ranges surrounding the valley. This spot is also a popular salmon fishing area for both 2 and 4 legged fishermen, so consider bringing a pole AND some bear protection.

*named based on the annotations found on Google Maps.
